The Systems Engineer is responsible for the systems engineering, integration, verification, validation, and technical coordination of solid rocket propulsion systems and their interfaces across the full product lifecycle.
The position reports to the applicable Engineering Manager and is part of the Engineering organization. This role is primarily onsite and may be based at a Voyager Technologies facility.

The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining mission-critical software and software-enabled systems supporting Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), national security, defense, and space applications.
The position reports to the Engineering Manager and is part of the Software Engineering Department. Relocation assistance may be provided to qualified candidates.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Design, develop, integrate, and maintain reliable software applications and services supporting ISR, defense, space, and national security missions.
- Translate mission, system, and software requirements into scalable, maintainable software architectures, designs, interfaces, and technical solutions.
- Develop software using modern programming languages such as C++, Python, Java, C#, Rust, or similar technologies, as appropriate to the program.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, system, and automated tests; troubleshoot defects and performance issues; and support software verification and validation activities.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, embedded, test, cybersecurity, data, and mission engineering teams to integrate software into complex mission systems and operational environments.
- Support software deployment, configuration management, continuous integration/continuous delivery, and DevSecOps practices across development, test, and production environments.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews, technical planning, code reviews, risk assessments, and other engineering activities while maintaining clear technical documentation.
- Apply secure software development, reliability, performance, and cybersecurity principles to mission-critical systems and rapidly evolving national security applications.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 4 years of relevant professional experience OR Master’s degree in a related technical field with 2 years of relevant professional experience OR 8 years of relevant software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
- 4–10 years of professional experience developing software in a production, mission-critical, aerospace, defense, intelligence, or other highly regulated technical environment.
- Demonstrated experience with one or more modern programming languages such as C++, Python, Java, C#, Rust, or similar.
- Experience with software development fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, version control, debugging, testing, and software design patterns.
- Experience developing and integrating software for distributed, embedded, real-time, data-processing, command-and-control, sensor, or other complex technical systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, agile, and fast-paced engineering environment and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with software development tools and workflows such as Git, automated testing, CI/CD, issue tracking, code review, and build/deployment automation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance, if required for the assigned position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing software for ISR, intelligence, national security, defense, space, satellite, ground, or other mission-critical applications.
- Active U.S. Security Clearance and/or experience working within classified environments, along with familiarity with secure software development and DevSecOps practices.
Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:
- Travel up to 10%, including the possibility of overnights, to support customers, program activities, integration and test events, suppliers, or other business needs.
- Ability to work in office, laboratory, integration, test, and other operational environments as required by the program.
- Certain positions may require eligibility for a U.S. Security Clearance and/or compliance with applicable export-control requirements.
The good faith base salary range for this role is $104,000–$227,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive.
This range may be adjusted in the future.

In this role, the essential functions are:
- Prepare and present systems engineering artifacts, technical analyses, requirements documentation, verification evidence, design review materials, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support propulsion development and test activities by defining system-level objectives, reviewing test plans and data, evaluating results, and supporting anomaly investigations and root-cause analysis.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical issues, manage interfaces, identify risks, and support integrated design decisions.
- Support system architecture development, technical trade studies, configuration management, and management of engineering baselines.
- Develop verification and validation strategies, plans, methods, and matrices to demonstrate compliance with technical and program requirements.
- Define and manage internal and external interfaces between propulsion systems, vehicles, structures, avionics, ground support equipment, test systems, and other integrated subsystems.
- Develop, decompose, allocate, and maintain system and subsystem requirements, ensuring traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead and support systems engineering activities for solid rocket propulsion systems from concept development through design, integration, test, qualification, production, and sustainment.

- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 4–15 years of relevant aerospace, propulsion, or systems engineering experience; a Master’s degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience applying systems engineering principles to complex aerospace hardware, propulsion systems, or other integrated technical products.
- Familiarity with systems engineering tools and methodologies, including requirements management and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) concepts.
- Experience supporting solid rocket motors or solid propulsion systems, including motor performance, propulsion subsystem interfaces, development, test, qualification, or production support.
- Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing and managing system requirements, interfaces, verification methods, and technical baselines.
- Experience with requirements management, configuration management, interface control, and verification and validation processes.
- Ability to develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including requirements specifications, interface control documents, verification plans, and technical reports.
- Experience participating in multidisciplinary design reviews and communicating technical information across engineering, manufacturing, test, quality, program, and leadership teams.
- Ability to independently manage technical assignments with increasing scope and complexity; engineers at the higher end of the experience range may lead system-level efforts, mentor junior engineers, and provide subject-matter expertise.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with controlled technical data and comply with applicable safety, quality, export control, and government requirements.
Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:
- Travel up to 10%, including the possibility of overnight travel to support testing, suppliers, customers, or other Voyager locations.
The good faith base salary range for this role will vary based on experience, skills, level, and location. This posting is intended to support multiple engineering levels with approximately 4–15 years of relevant experience. The applicable salary range will be communicated during the recruiting process.
