Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Title: Accounts Payable Clerk Full-Time / Non-Exempt M-F 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Location: Glen Burnie, MD Reports To: Accounts Payable Manager Responsibilities Under general supervision of the Accounts Payable Manager, the clerk resolves discrepancies between receiving and invoices to meet the obligations of the R.E. Michel Company, Inc. Accounts Payable Department. Works to ensure deadlines are met and discounts are taken in a prudent/timely manner. Immediately reports all vendor credit holds to the A/P Manager and advises as to the cause. Works with the manager to resolve credit hold(s) in a timely manner. Resolve problem invoices for payment (i.e., quantities, discrepancies on shortages, overages and pricing discrepancies). Processes debits and credits. Researches all credit balances on accounts. Examines all vendor statements to identify credits matched to debits, applies all unidentified credits. Maintains vendor data and forwards necessary change information to the A/P Manager. Data entry. Maintains professional reserve when called upon by vendors for payment and with co‑workers. Other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications High School diploma with 2 to 4 years bookkeeping or Accounts Payable experience. Performs computations with reasonable speed and accuracy. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have strong working knowledge of debits and credits; be well organized, detail oriented, and possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels. Computer skills required. Pleasant phone manner necessary.
