Urology Physician Position at Fargo VA Medical Center

The Urology Physician provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient urological care to veteran patients at the Fargo VA Medical Center. This role is primarily focused on direct patient care, including clinical evaluations, surgical procedures, and specialty exams. The physician will work within a collaborative healthcare environment, ensuring timely, high-quality care while adhering to VA policies and clinical standards.

This position offers a structured weekday schedule with no call responsibilities, supporting strong work-life balance while delivering essential specialty care to the veteran population.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care in an outpatient urology clinic and inpatient setting (approximately 90% clinical care)

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of urological conditions

Perform urological procedures, including but not limited to:

• Cystoscopies, vasectomies, ureteroscopies, and transurethral procedures
• Surgical interventions involving the prostate, bladder, kidneys, urethra, testes, and related structures
• Endoscopic and fluoroscopic procedures, including use of holmium laser and ESWL

Conduct inpatient rounds and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams

Provide consultations and manage referrals to other specialists as needed

Complete specialty exams (e.g., compensation & pension, Agent Orange evaluations) related to urological conditions

Deliver patient education, discharge planning, and follow-up care instructions

Adhere to VA policies regarding medication management and clinical documentation

Maintain timely patient care in accordance with VA access and scheduling standards

Qualifications

License: The Contractor's physician(s) assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this contract shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property. A North Dakota license is preferred but not required

Board Certification: All contractor's physician(s) shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Urology (ABU)

Proof the provider has successful completion of an approved residency program in Urology during which 3 years were devoted to Urological surgery
