Shape precision parts on second shift in Greenwood, IN

Step into our climate-controlled Greenwood, IN facility as a CNC milling expert on 2nd shift. You’ll run Haas 3- and 4-axis vertical machining centers to cut, drill, mill, ream, bore, and broach both metal and nonmetal workpieces. You’ll also interface with programs and controls, occasionally operating manually when needed, and support a shop that also utilizes 5+ axis VMCs.

A day in the life

• Study blueprints, operation sheets, planning notes, sketches, and technical data to determine tooling, setups, control parameters, and machining sequence.
• Stage and verify tools and fixtures, confirming size, depth, angle, and other dimensional requirements meet quality expectations.
• Mount, align, and secure workholding, tooling, and attachments; assemble cutters in holders and load them into machine magazines.
• Load control media (tape, card, or disk) into the controller, or call up preprogrammed instructions from the database.
• Compute and set spindle position and speeds/feeds, depth of cut, and coolant flow to suit the operation.
• Perform setup prove-outs and limited manual programming during setups with Supervisor approval.
• Start the machine and monitor screens and operation for any sign of trouble; pause as needed to swap tools, adjust setups, or inspect parts against the print.
• Enter commands or make manual control corrections to address malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Run the machine manually for non-automated steps or if automatic programming/control issues occur.
• Collaborate with your supervisor and programming team to resolve control media or program errors.
• Keep machines, tooling, and parts clean; complete routine maintenance as required.
• Follow company policies with a strong safety mindset and proper PPE at all times.
• Help onboard and train new teammates when assigned.

What you bring

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of related machining experience or training.
• Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
• Comfort with fractions, decimals, whole numbers, and units of measure.
• Skilled at reading blueprints and operation sheets to determine setups and machining steps.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC machinery and recording data in the Traverse Manufacturing System.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Your toolkit

• Proficient with GD&T, G-code, and M-code.
• Experienced in advanced inspection techniques and gauge measurements.
• Confident blueprint reading.
• Machines in use: CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) and CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC).
