Supplier Quality Engineer II

Supplier Quality Engineer IILocation: Bridgeton, MO, USLeonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Supplier Quality Engineer II. This position is based out of our Bridgeton, MO facility and will have the option to work an in person or remote schedule. This role is responsible for the assessment, development, monitoring, improvement and reporting of suppliers and their quality performance. They will follow the prescribed processes set forth within the Supplier Quality system and execute all assigned Supplier Quality duties (i.e. auditing, FAIRs, Nonconformance investigation, CA assignments, issue resolution, documentation, reporting).Job ResponsibilitiesResponsible for quality system development and supporting product quality improvementsDevelop, maintain and deploy quality plans and activities that translate customer requirements into planned activitiesAbility to work independently and to provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians and inspectorsPerform analyses of program requirements and prepares responsive quality plans, procedures, schedules and resource allocations to assure optimum quality supportReview and approve engineering/test and contractor documentation and provide input to assure that appropriate quality requirements are addressedProvide ongoing quality system support to include performing internal audits, ensuring implementation of root cause corrective actionsLead product quality improvement teams, Material Review Boards and participates in Failure Review BoardsEvaluate and dispose of non-conforming materialProvide technical support for Assembly/Test/Inspection personnel to include executing workmanship improvement plans, developing inspection methods and criteria, specifying appropriate sampling plans, interpreting and revising specifications, and processing non-conforming materialsLead in resolving customer quality issues and driving root cause and corrective action on process and product quality issuesAssist in developing and deploying SPC initiativesAnalyze and execute projects independentlyCommunicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer, as requiredEvaluate and make recommendations on critical supplier selections and drives supplier continuous improvement processes, including leading on-site audits, evaluating prototypes, and reviewing and approving of supplier corrective actionsLead and execute customer quality program requirementsDevelop and generate statistical reports on inspection activities and results, new product or process testing results, etc and recommend action as requiredEstablish programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production and processing equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical facilitiesConsider financial impacts of quality process controls and inspectionsSupport, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationAttend appropriate customer, business or program meetingsPrepare quality engineering reports and recommendationsMonitor and mentor junior quality engineersProvide regular reporting of progress and statusCompletion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirementsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience2+ years of relevant experience in quality engineering.Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledgeExperienced with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statisticsASQ certification or Black Belt preferredAbility to understand military specifications and to read blueprintsExcellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skillsAbility to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective actionWilling and able to travel up to 30% of the timeThe salary range for this position is $54,586.00/year - $67,962.00/year for the states of Illinois and Minessota, $60,045.00/year - $78,058.00/year for the states of Washington and Virginia, and $ 62,744.00/year - $81,606.00/year for the state of California. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity.
