Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Document Control / Process Project Engineer for an onsite position supporting a major pharmaceutical project in Kankakee, IL. This role combines construction document control with hands-on quality and process engineering responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a critical part in ensuring equipment receipt, validation, and refurbishment, while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.

Role accountabilities:

• Document Control
• Manage, organize, and maintain all project-related documentation (drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, QA/QC records).
• Ensure compliance with internal document management systems and FDA regulations.
• Track and facilitate approvals, revisions, and distribution of controlled documents.
• Equipment Management & Quality
• Oversee the verification and documentation of equipment receipt.
• Manage Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) documentation processes.
• Track and coordinate the refurbishment of equipment that has been stored for extended periods (~7 years).
• Support and document validation activities for refurbished equipment, ensuring all regulatory and quality standards are met.
• Project Engineering
• Collaborate with construction, quality, and engineering teams to execute project deliverables.
• Participate in technical reviews and support resolution of equipment or process-related issues.
• Provide technical documentation and reporting to both internal and client stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Process, or related field) or equivalent technical discipline.
• Strong industry experience in pharmaceuticals or a related regulated sector.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with FDA compliance and cGMP standards.
• Direct experience with construction document control and/or QA/QC processes.
• Technical background with ability to understand process engineering and equipment validation (preference for process engineers or similar technical profiles).
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex documentation.
