Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) ACLS (American Heart Association) PALS (American Heart Association) TNCC highly preferred Must-Have Skills: PALS - AHA RN Emergency Room BLS - AHA ACLS - AHA Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver. This role involves assuming responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to patients using the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and resources within the organization's philosophy. Essential Functions: Perform all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. Complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate plans of care. Implement plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modify plans of care based on continuous evaluation. Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicate directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offer constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confer with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identify personal learning needs and take initiative to find appropriate solutions. Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies. Department Specific Functions: Implement procedures and theories specific to Emergency Department nursing. Perform patient assessments and develop care plans in collaboration with providers, families, and patients. Execute plans of care and nursing interventions. Modify care plans based on continuous assessment. Ensure patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions. Adhere to safety standards and correct/report safety hazards. Effectively communicate and collaborate with staff, visitors, and families. Promote a healthy and healing work environment. Provide feedback to peers to aid in professional development and problem-solving. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records/documentation. Schedule Notes: Night shifts from 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Two call shifts per six-week schedule period. Call shifts are 13 hours, with the expectation that the traveler is on-site within an hour. A two-week night rotation is required of all travelers. There is no block scheduling.
