Federal Program Manager (Growth Track to Director / VP of Federal Programs) Reports To: CEO Location: Remote, Hybrid, or Onsite (Grand Rapids, MI) About Symplicity Symplicity is a growing technology solutions provider helping organizations simplify and optimize technology management through innovative telecom expense management, managed IT services, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, and technology lifecycle services. With the recent award of a NASA SEWP VI contract category B & C , Symplicity is making a strategic investment in expanding its Federal business. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a Federal practice from the ground up, shape its strategy, and grow into a senior leadership role as the organization expands. This is not simply a Program Manager position—it is an opportunity to build and lead a new business unit. Position Summary The Federal Program Manager will establish, develop, and lead Symplicity's Federal business built around the NASA SEWP VI contract vehicle. This individual will be responsible for creating the operational framework, sales strategy, partner ecosystem, and internal processes necessary to successfully grow a scalable Federal organization. The successful candidate has previously helped build or significantly grow a Federal contracting business within a small or mid-sized company, ideally leveraging a NASA SEWP contract (SEWP V experience strongly preferred). As the Federal business grows, this position has the potential to evolve into Director of Federal Programs and ultimately VP of Federal Programs. Primary Responsibilities Federal Business Development Develop and execute the Federal growth strategy Identify target agencies, prime contractors, and teaming partners Develop and manage the Federal sales pipeline Build strategic OEM and distributor relationships Identify new contract vehicle opportunities NASA SEWP Program Leadership Serve as the internal owner of the NASA SEWP VI contract Develop repeatable RFQ response processes Coordinate pricing strategies Ensure contract compliance by creating a compliance Matrix Maintain strong relationships with the SEWP Program Office Optimize utilization of the contract vehicle Operational Development Build scalable operating procedures Develop proposal workflows Create pricing approval processes Establish reporting dashboards Design onboarding processes Build documentation and playbooks Build and lead the Federal organization as revenue grows Leadership Initially: Operate as an individual contributor Over time, recruit and hire: Contracts Administration Proposal Specialists Federal Sales Representatives Solutions Engineers Operations personnel Strategic Planning Partner with executive leadership to: Develop annual business plans Forecast revenue Establish KPIs Develop budgets Evaluate partnerships Expand contract portfolio The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a builder—not simply an operator. The ideal candidate has helped transform a small company's Federal practice into a scalable business by creating the infrastructure, relationships, and processes necessary for long-term growth. They are equally comfortable developing strategy, responding to RFQs, building partnerships, solving operational challenges, and mentoring future team members. Required Qualifications 7+ years of Federal Government contracting experience Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred Experience working with NASA SEWP (SEWP V strongly preferred; SEWP IV experience a plus) Demonstrated success building or significantly growing a Federal practice within a small or mid-sized organization Experience responding to Federal RFQs and managing proposal development Strong understanding of FAR and Federal procurement processes Experience working with OEMs, distributors, and channel partners Experience building repeatable operational processes Excellent executive communication skills Preferred Qualifications Previous experience helping a company grow from startup or early-stage Federal operations into a mature Federal organization Experience managing Federal P&L Experience hiring and leading Federal sales and operations teams Existing relationships with Federal agencies, prime contractors, OEMs, and distributors Experience with additional GWACs, IDIQs, or MAS contracts (e.g., GSA MAS, CIO-SP3, ITES, etc.) Success in the First 12 Months Within the first year, the successful candidate will: Develop Symplicity's Federal business strategy Establish repeatable SEWP VI operational processes Build key OEM, distributor, and teaming relationships Create proposal and pricing workflows Generate and manage a qualified Federal opportunity pipeline Successfully execute RFQs through SEWP VI Develop the hiring roadmap for the Federal organization Position the business for multi-million-dollar annual growth Career Growth This role is intentionally designed as a leadership succession opportunity.
