The Community Engagement Program Manager is responsible for designing, managing, and scaling Westerra Credit Union’s community engagement and social impact programs. This role translates the Community Engagement pillar of the External Affairs strategy into high‑impact initiatives that strengthen community trust, elevate the Westerra brand, and support long‑term membership growth through reciprocal partnerships. What will be expected of me? Serve as the primary program manager for all community engagement initiatives, including educator programs, grants, scholarships, classroom programs, financial literacy curriculum, adult and youth financial wellness initiatives, volunteer programs, social activations, and donation platforms. Design, implement, and oversee community engagement programs from concept through execution, including program planning, budgeting, partner coordination, communications, and impact evaluation. Develop and maintain strong internal and external partnerships, working closely with community organizations, schools, nonprofits, and internal business units to align programming with Westerra’s strategic and business objectives. Collaborate with the Director of External Affairs on program strategy, translating high‑level goals into scalable, actionable program frameworks and implementation plans. Establish and maintain program, budget, and partnership tracking systems to measure outcomes, report impact, and inform continuous improvement. Support and guide day‑to‑day execution of community events and activations, including logistical coordination, content development, data collection, and on‑the‑ground presence as needed. Review and coach the work of lower‑level professionals within the team. Other duties as assigned. Will I have Direct Reports? No Experience/Education: 6+ years of relevant experience in community engagement, social impact, program management, external affairs, nonprofit partnerships, education, or a related field. Experience managing multi‑program portfolios, external partnerships, and curriculum development preferred. Experience with program performance measurement and reporting systems, CRM systems, and social impact monitoring and evaluation Skills and Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office and SharePoint, with strong written communication skills Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization professionally to diverse audiences Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge effectively on the job Detail‑oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, and time‑management skills Maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality Accountable for managing projects and processes independently with limited supervision Acts autonomously on most decisions; seeks guidance on more complex or high‑impact judgments Advanced understanding of community engagement or functional area, with a growing understanding of the overall organization and competitive environment Demonstrated ability to handle problems that are difficult and sometimes complex Able to influence timelines, expectations, and outcomes; proactively negotiates within the department and with partners Strong relationship‑building and collaboration skills; effective “bridge builder” across diverse community segments and stakeholders Demonstrated creative thinking and problem‑solving capabilities Applies analytical thinking and data‑informed judgment to support decision‑making and program improvement Demonstrates cultural awareness and respect for differing cultures, identities, backgrounds, and perspectives Working knowledge of Westerra products and services, or the ability to quickly develop that knowledge to align community engagement efforts with organizational goals Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel, with availability to work some nights and weekends A valid Colorado driver’s license and the ability to travel between branch locations in the Denver Metro area and beyond using a dependable personal vehicle and/or Westerra Credit Union fleet vehicles, depending on the role The ability to comply with Westerra Credit Union’s Motor Vehicle Driver Acknowledgement, operating procedures, and annual driver authorization requirements, including following all applicable driving and safety regulations when driving or traveling on behalf of WCU The ability to meet driver eligibility standards, including an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record with no Type A violations in the past five years and no more than one Type B violation in the past three years What is the work environment like, and are there physical requirements for this role? Dispersed, flexible team environment with a mix of on‑campus and remote work Works primarily at a desk, with periodic time spent in the community for meetings, events, and programming Travel: Approximately 20-30% local travel for community meetings, events, and partner engagement Physical requirements: Ability to attend events, set up materials, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs Salary : in addition to the starting annual salary of $78,204- $97,754, this role is also eligible for Westerra’s self‑funding reward plan. This plan pays out a cash incentive annually if Westerra hits specific criteria tied to financial goals and this role has a direct impact on the outcome of those results!
