Our challenge:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Technology Engineer to support the engineering, implementation, integration, and operational management of technology used for regulatory electronic communications archiving and supervision. The successful candidate will combine strong infrastructure, cloud, automation, and messaging expertise with practical experience supporting electronic communications in a regulated environment. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring experience with Microsoft Azure, Terraform, PowerShell and/or Python, Windows, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Teams, and SMTP fundamentals. Experience implementing or supporting enterprise electronic communications archiving and supervision platforms such as Smarsh, Proofpoint, or comparable solutions is highly desirable. The engineer will partner closely with Technology, Compliance, Messaging, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Operations, and Application teams to ensure that regulated electronic communications are reliably captured, archived, retained, and available to support compliance, supervision, audit, eDiscovery, and regulatory requirements.

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Engineer, implement, configure, and support solutions for electronic communications capture, archiving, retention, and supervision in a regulated environment.
\n
• Support the integration of enterprise messaging and collaboration platforms with electronic communications archiving and supervision technologies.
\n
• Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange, including Exchange Online and on-premises environments.
\n
• Support Microsoft Teams and other electronic communications platforms to ensure compliant capture and archival.
\n
• Work with platforms such as Bloomberg email and instant messaging, Symphony, and other regulated communications technologies.
\n
• Troubleshoot message delivery, mail flow, routing, journaling, capture, connectivity, integration, and reconciliation issues across messaging and archival platforms.
\n
• Apply strong knowledge of SMTP fundamentals, including:
\n
• Mail flow and message routing
\n
• SMTP relays
\n
• Headers and message tracing
\n
• Delivery failures and bounce handling
\n
• Journaling and capture workflows
\n
• Connectivity and authentication troubleshooting
\n
• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain infrastructure and services within Microsoft Azure.
\n
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to improve consistency, repeatability, scalability, and operational control.
\n
• Develop and maintain PowerShell and/or Python scripts for automation, monitoring, deployment, validation, troubleshooting, and operational support.
\n
• Support Windows-based infrastructure and applications, including troubleshooting at both the operating system and application layers.
\n
• Partner with Compliance and Technology stakeholders to translate regulatory, business, and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
\n
• Participate in production support, incident response, root-cause analysis, upgrades, migrations, remediation activities, and change implementation.
\n
• Support monitoring, logging, alerting, reconciliation, and automated validation processes for communications capture and archival.
\n
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, runbooks, support materials, and troubleshooting guides.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, resiliency, monitoring, security, operational efficiency, and control effectiveness across the communications compliance environment.
\n
• Ensure solutions align with applicable retention, recordkeeping, supervision, eDiscovery, legal hold, audit, and regulatory requirements.
\n

Required Skills:

\n
• Significant IT engineering experience, preferably within financial services or another highly regulated environment.
\n
• Hands-on experience supporting electronic communications archiving, compliance monitoring, supervision, or related regulatory technology.
\n
• Experience implementing, administering, or supporting an enterprise communications archiving platform such as:
\n
• Smarsh
\n
• Proofpoint
\n
• Global Relay
\n
• Veritas
\n
• Or a comparable solution
\n
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud-based infrastructure.
\n
• Experience building, deploying, and maintaining infrastructure using Terraform.
\n
• Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or both.
\n
• Strong experience administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows environments.
\n
• Experience supporting enterprise messaging and collaboration technologies, including:
\n
• Microsoft Exchange Online
\n
• Microsoft Exchange on-premises
\n
• Microsoft Teams
\n
• Bloomberg email and instant messaging
\n
• Symphony
\n
• Other regulated communications platforms
\n
• Strong understanding of SMTP, mail flow, message routing, relays, headers, journaling, message tracing, and related messaging concepts.
\n
• Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, infrastructure, networking, messaging, cloud services, and third-party platforms.
\n
• Experience integrating communication platforms with compliance capture, archival, and supervision systems.
\n
• Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Infrastructure, Messaging, Cybersecurity, Operations, Application, and Compliance teams.
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document complex technical environments clearly.
\n
• Ability to operate effectively in a production environment and manage multiple priorities in a hands-on contractor role.
\n
• Significant IT engineering experience in highly regulated environments.
\n
• Electronic communications archiving and compliance monitoring support.
\n
• Enterprise communications archiving platforms (e.g., Smarsh, Proofpoint, Global Relay, Veritas, or comparable solutions).
\n
• Microsoft Azure services and cloud-based infrastructure.
\n
• Terraform-based infrastructure deployment and maintenance.
\n
