Group Life Coordinator x3

Overview Position Title: Group Life Coordinator x3 (Group Life Coordinator 2). Full‑time permanent state position located within the Oregon Youth Challenge Program in Bend, Oregon. Schedule: 10pm–6am, may vary. Union represented by AFSCME. Responsibilities Care, control, safety, and security of youth 24/7. Supervise youth emphasizing safety, personal growth, teamwork, and program’s eight core components. Promote positive youth development, maintain professional relationships, model desired behaviors, maintain uniform, and ensure a safe training environment. Monitor and report behavior during daily activities, off‑site projects, academic instruction, meals, and extracurricular activities. Work with youth who may have social, economic, emotional, or behavioral challenges; assist them in developing goals, conflict resolution, and life skills. Plan, lead, and participate in daily physical fitness activities (running, cadence). Provide classroom instruction on program standards and character development. Working Conditions Lifting, exposure to adverse weather, and shift work including swing, graveyard, weekends, and holidays. Contact with irate students, parents, and the public. Transport students in State‑owned vehicles and call military cadence; extensive walking, marching, and running. Maintain physical fitness and personal appearance standards annually. On feet during 8‑hour shifts; schedule changes frequent. Qualifications 21 years of age and above. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Six (6) months experience in human performance, relations, or interactions (or an equivalent educational credential in behavioral science, education, criminal justice, or related field). Alternatively, six (6) months of prior military, law‑enforcement, or corrections experience. Ability to pass a physical fitness standard and a fingerprint‑based criminal background check. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; a 3‑year driving abstract if out of state. Additional Requirements Maintain CPR/First‑Aid certification within 6 months of hire. Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) within 120 days of hire. Drug/alcohol‑free workplace; pass pre‑employment drug screening. Maintain minimum physical fitness standards and grooming standards.
