Payroll Specialist

Job Overview Position: Payroll Specialist in the Payroll Department. Responsible for accurately processing pay for employees in compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations. Reports to the Payroll Supervisor. Responsibilities Process biweekly or semimonthly payroll for all employees in accordance with company policies and federal/state regulations. Collect and verify timekeeping information from employees. Enter payroll data accurately and on time. Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll‑related inquiries. Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with internal policies and legal regulations. Support with garnishments, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and other payroll‑related changes. Generate standard payroll reports as needed. Collaborate with Human Resources, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure data integrity and consistency. Assist with year‑end processing, including W‑2s and other required forms. Qualifications and Competencies Proficient computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills and a collaborative approach. Ability to perform detailed work accurately, confidentially, and promptly. Preferred Qualifications Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field. Two (2) years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi‑state or complex payroll environment. Familiarity with Workday payroll software. Experience in a standard office environment using telephones, computers, and other equipment. Availability for extended hours during payroll deadlines or year‑end processes. Ability to travel occasionally. Physical Requirements Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Eligibility Applicants must have a clear driving record, a 10‑year criminal history check, a drug screen as required, proof of high school or GED completion, and be at least 18 years old. Compensation and Benefits Starting rate: $40,000.00–$45,000.00 Annual Salary (based on locale and experience). Benefits include paid training, holiday pay, 401(k), vacation, family travel on the American Airlines network, and medical and dental coverage.
