Accounts Payable Specialist

$19 - $21 per hour

My client, a reputable company in Rogers, Arkansas, is hiring for an Accounts Payable Specialist!

Job Description:

  • The Accounts Payable Specialist is a key customer service position within the company.
  • This position is responsible for resolution of discrepant carrier invoices, building shipments, updating shipment attributes, communicating internally and/or externally with Operations, Carrier Pricing, and potentially shipper/receiver facilities.
  • This role will analyze the root cause of invoice discrepancies within carrier aging, and work with the appropriate party(s) to escalate the issues as needed for final resolution.
  • The successful candidate must display superior communication skills (consistent, professional, effective, prompt, and courteous).
  • Resolve carrier invoice discrepancies using company guidelines, customer business rules, and carrier rate agreements
  • Analyze carrier aging reports by reconciling carrier invoices against internal billing data to identify discrepancies and root causes
  • Prepare and present clear summaries of invoice aging (e.g., amounts by bucket/status) to carriers and internal stakeholders, confidently explaining findings and resolution paths
  • Create shipments for non-managed freight based on predefined, customer-specific requirements
  • Build, update, and maintain shipment attributes in the Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Support Operations with financial and invoice-related inquiries tied to specific customer accounts
  • Communicate internally with Operations, Procurement, and Carrier Pricing teams regarding rating disputes, accessorial charges, and billing discrepancies
  • Escalate unresolved invoice issues to appropriate internal or external parties for final resolution
  • Set up new customer and vendor locations in the TMS, applying knowledge of customer business practices and requirements
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and cost containment for customers and the organization
  • Assist with system transitions by validating data accuracy between legacy and new systems
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications to Apply:

  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets proficiency (significant daily use required)
  • Functions including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and data reconciliation techniques
  • Needs someone who is proactive and looks for things to do once work is completed, instead of always just sitting around for instruction.
  • Strong experience working with large invoice datasets and aging reports
  • Ability to compare carrier invoices against internal records and identify discrepancies
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to explain financial data clearly and professionally
  • High adaptability to new systems and process changes, including system migrations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (professional, clear, timely, and courteous)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rogers, AR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
