Patent Agent and Technical Specialist

A law firm in Costa Mesa, CA, is seeking a skilled Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to enhance its intellectual property team. Responsibilities Prepare and prosecute patent applications, including drafting detailed claims and specifications. Manage the patent application process from filing to final approval, responding to office actions. Conduct thorough technical analyses related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking. Perform prior art searches and provide patentability assessments. Collaborate with inventors and clients to strategize patent portfolios and IP protection. Review and analyze technical documents and patent filings for accuracy and compliance. Provide technical and legal advice on intellectual property matters. Prepare reports and updates on patent application statuses and strategies. Stay informed about changes in patent laws and advancements in relevant technical fields. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics. Technical experience with wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking. Proven skills in preparing and prosecuting patent applications. Strong analytical, research, and problem‑solving abilities. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Skills Expertise in patent application preparation and prosecution.
