Caterpillar's Oil & Gas and Marine Division has an exciting position open for an SPM Oil & Gas Accountant. This position supports the SPM Services' U.S. and Canadian locations through monthly financial reporting/close process, planning/forecasting, capital allocation, period cost governance, and overall business support. Responsibilities Provide insights into SPM Service business financial results to assist management with business decisions. Present and effectively communicate results to business partners and leadership. Support month‑end close efforts at SPM by preparing all services‑related monthly journal entries and validating financial data in real‑time within month‑end closing time cutoffs. Support efforts to implement period cost governance to support execution of annual business plans and tracking of key services long‑term plans. Work closely with SPM and broader Caterpillar O & G Sales, Commercial, and Business Resource teams to support major service deals with O & G customers. Collaborate across accounting and various commercial teams to enable business insights and financial support to SPM business. Participate in special projects and ad hoc reporting requests upon request. Drive improvements and efficiencies in financial processes in alignment with our Global Finance Strategy and SPM Finance Transformation. Qualifications University‑level education in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Bachelor's degree). Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1–2 years), and strategic (3–5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication behaviors. Knowledge of the decision‑making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward, communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance. Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes. Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret, and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material. Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Syteline, PowerBI, and Snowflake. Previous experience in operational accounting/finance supporting a business unit within Caterpillar. Ability to take an enterprise point of view and lead with Caterpillar's Values in Action. Initiative, good judgment, effective organization skills, and accountability. Ability to partner with peers and leadership. Additional Information Location: Fort Worth, TX – office presence required 5 days a week. Domestic relocation assistance available for qualified candidates. Sponsorship is not available. International and domestic travel up to 5%. Summary Pay Range: $87,480.00 – $131,280.00, depending on level, location, and experience. Compensation and benefits may vary based on individual factors, performance, and market conditions.
