This paid opportunity provides a structured pathway to becoming a Certified Medical Assistant while gaining valuable hands-on clinical experience.

Program Overview

The BMC Medical Assistant Apprenticeship combines FRCC coursework with hands-on clinical training at BMC. Apprentices begin the program in January 2027 and, over approximately 20 weeks, receive:

• Interactive classroom instruction
• Flexible online learning
• Paid clinical training and work experience
• Preparation to sit for the national Medical Assistant certification exam

After completing FRCC coursework and competency requirements, apprentices receive priority consideration for available Medical Assistant positions at BMC. Applicants must still apply and complete the standard hiring process at that time.

Apprentices hired into a BMC Medical Assistant role who successfully complete one year in the apprenticeship program earn a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship , a nationally recognized credential awarded through the Colorado State Apprenticeship Agency in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor.

Apprenticeship Benefits

• Compensation of combined FRCC classroom and BMCclinical training time will not exceed 40/hours a week.

Job Duties

• Answer calls and assist with patient scheduling and registration
• Obtain and document patient medical histories and vital signs
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
• Prepare and stock exam rooms
• Document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR)

• Has a strong interest in healthcare and patient care
• Is motivated to advance their clinical career
• Can commit to the accelerated training program, including classroom, online, and clinical learning
• Is interested in pursuing a long-term Medical Assistant career with BMC

Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in any field.
• Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and strong attendance record.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Healthcare experience is not required.

Education

• High School diploma

Program Commitments

• Must be enrolled in, or willing to enroll in, FRCC's Medical Assistant education program upon offer.
• Able to commit to and successfully complete all apprenticeship coursework, clinical training, and program requirements.
• Available to begin the program in January 2027 .

Compensation

• Apprenticeship Pay: $17.00/hour
• Medical Assistant Pay Range (upon placement into an MA role): $18.91 - $27.98/hour, commensurate with experience
