The Child Health Institute of NJ is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to study the molecular mechanisms regulating synaptic transmission in mammalian brain and human neurons. Responsibilities Design, analyze, interpret, and present experiments related to synaptic transmission regulation in mammalian brain and human neurons. Perform whole‑cell patch clamp electrophysiology in brain slices and cell cultures. Conduct behavioral tests in mice. Carry out in vivo 2-photon imaging in head-fixed mice. Compile and analyze data, drawing appropriate conclusions and recommendations. Communicate findings with the Principal Investigator and present data in a timely manner. Participate in lab meetings, research seminars, and conference presentations. Prepare manuscripts based on research findings. Assist in developing grant applications and apply for personal grant funding. Qualifications PhD or MD in Neuroscience or a related biological science. Experience working with rodent animals and human embryonic cells. At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Effective oral and written communication skills in English. Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Highly motivated, independent, organized, and capable of working collaboratively and independently under guidance. Strong research competency and knowledge to perform assigned duties. Experience assisting in daily lab management and training personnel and students. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with brain slice patch-clamp recordings and optical imaging. The range may extend to a maximum of $200,000, depending on qualifications, experience, and departmental or grant funding. Working Hours Full time, 37.5 hours per week. Day shift; fully on-site work arrangement required.
