Safety Coordinator - 1st Shift

It will also lead and direct the safety function of the assigned building(s) and provide recommendations regarding safety initiatives and programs. This position is responsible for complying with all safety, health and environmental regulations which will support the strategic business plan of the company. Job Duties Work with local management to provide information regarding plant safety status, initiatives, identification of safety needs, and effective program/process follow through. Coordinate and provide safety training according to the Federal, State, and Company standards. Maintain required safety and health documents. Conduct periodic safety and health walk-through inspections. Analyze current safety programs, determine applicability through metrics, and suggest improvements if necessary. Conduct Safety Audits Advising provisions to minimize safety risks Create AIL with follow through of assignments as directed by manager Conduct Safety Team meetings Intervene in unsafe activities or operations Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety and health programs and plans. Knowledge Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA, and various state regulations. Environmental experience is helpful. Skills and Abilities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written. Leadership. Intermediate computer skills particular to MS Office Suite. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Successfully multi-task, organize, and prioritize. Ensure collaborative relationships with industry, trade, other associations, regulatory agencies and Hearthside staff. Work is primarily done in a production floor setting. Frequent production environment exposure which includes noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and fluctuations in temperature. Physical Requirements Sitting at a workstation for extended periods of time. Stand, walk, climb stairs on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift 30 pounds on a frequent basis. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in Safety or Human Resources preferred or 1-3 years combination of education and practical experience. Knowledge of both State and Federal safety, health and environmental regulations in a similar environment. Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
