Production Planner I

Job Summary Production Planner I coordinates with operations and procurement teams to ensure the movement of materials and resources through departments to meet production schedules. Essential Functions Draw up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders. Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements. Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times. Plan sequence of fabrication and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers. Confer with supervisors to determine status of assigned projects; expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Prepare production reports. Prepare purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment. Any other tasks assigned by supervisor or management. Minimum Qualifications Experience: 5+ years’ experience in scheduling, supply chain or fulfillment. Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of manufacturing, production planning and materials control functions; Strong understanding of Kanban Systems, JIT, POU, FIFO, Level loading, with a manufacturing process understanding preferred. Skills/Abilities: Expert in using scheduling and capacity planning tools; experience with Oracle; Significant experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access; Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, good communication and interpersonal skills. Education/Certification: BS degree required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Lean Manufacturing strongly preferred. Experience with Oracle (11i preferred). Eligibility Requirement This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Working Conditions Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment including but not limited to eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and other required PPE. Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs. Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary. Standing 90%, sitting 10%, lifting up to 25 pounds, pushing up to 50 pounds. Mental/Visual: use of microscope and computer. Workspace: clean bench. Salary range 33.98/hr. - 40.30/hr.
