Occupational Therapist

Birchwood Terrace Rehabilitation and Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our in-house rehabilitation team in Burlington, Massachusetts .

Compensation: $42–$55 per hour

Occupational Therapist Responsibilities

• Consult with residents and patients to understand their individual needs, concerns, functional limitations, and rehabilitation goals.

• Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and interpret evaluation findings and test results.

• Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings, physician orders, patient needs, and established standards of care.

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to improve functional independence, safety, mobility, and quality of life.

• Address activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, strength, coordination, cognition, balance, and other areas of occupational performance.

• Monitor resident and patient responses to treatment and modify interventions as clinically appropriate.

• Establish and update individualized goals based on patient progress and functional needs.

• Educate residents, patients, families, and caregivers on treatment plans, adaptive techniques, safety, and strategies that promote independence.

• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapy team members, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate quality patient care.

• Provide guidance and supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards.

• Communicate changes in resident or patient condition, progress, and treatment needs to the appropriate members of the healthcare team.

• Complete all documentation accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner.

• Maintain accurate records related to evaluations, treatment sessions, progress, goals, and discharge planning.

• Comply with all applicable federal and state regulations, professional standards, and facility policies.

• Participate in required meetings and other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation.

Occupational Therapist Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or long-term care setting is preferred.

• Current knowledge of occupational therapy treatment practices, techniques, and interventions.

• Familiarity with Net Health electronic documentation is preferred.

• Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively with residents and patients with a variety of needs, abilities, and backgrounds.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.

• Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

• Strong understanding of functional assessment, rehabilitation, and strategies that promote independence.

Occupational Therapist Requirements

• Active and valid Occupational Therapy license in Massachusetts .

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

• Must be in good standing with all applicable regulatory agencies and licensing boards.
