Are you a PMHNP who believes in the value of working holistically with patients, incorporating a true biopsychosocial approach? Work with a leading wellness team in a beautiful setting. Similar to being in private practice, but you have the benefits of mentorship, office support, and working with a great group of professionals offering mental health care in an integrated manner. Our offices are spacious and located in multiple communities in the Houston area. We're looking for a warm, smart, friendly, highly competent PMHNP to work with primarily children and adolescents as well as adults who are mostly high functioning on a variety of issues.
This is an exciting and unique professional opportunity–we are hiring immediately for part or full-time positions. You would be joining a collaborative multidisciplinary team, and mentored on a variety of integrative methods that may expand your professional repertoire. We employ the best of psychopharmacology along with healthy lifestyle changes, evidence-based supplements, the latest science of psychotherapy, and mind-body approaches to work collaboratively toward our patients' wellness.
Job Purpose: The Wellness Clinic Psychiatry Team is responsible for providing a full range of psychiatric services to patients according to best practices and the latest science in the field. While we approach care from an evidence-based perspective, we are open to supportive and complementary approaches as they may be helpful. Your treatment focus would be on diagnoses, medication management, lifestyle coaching and education, and evidence-based use of natural products and alternative therapies as you see fit. Duties also include collaboration with the multidisciplinary team at the wellness center.
Essential Duties:
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluation (typically 75 minutes), including psychiatric present symptoms and history, concerns around patient safety and violence, substance use, traumas, health behaviors, medical, social and family/genetic history.
- Evaluate for safety, including self-harm, violence and reportable arenas of abuse or neglect within family units. Managing and responding to psychiatric emergencies using clinical tools and partnering with appropriate community agencies.
- Develop biopsychosocial assessments of patients involving differential diagnoses and inclusion of social determinants of health. This may include using laboratory testing, collateral data, and other medical reports.
- Develop treatment plans for psychiatric disorders and or stress-induced illnesses based on practice guidelines, evidence-based standards and clinic knowledge. Referring out conditions which are better suited to other branches of medicine or clinical care.
- Involve and educate patients and/or their families on diagnoses and treatments.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic and related medications based on diagnosis, lab tests, patient's status of severity, to treat symptoms of disorders and improve functioning and quality of life, in manner attending to safe standards and with patient informed consent.
- Recommend appropriate use and monitoring of lifestyle modifications such as exercise, diet and mind-body approaches as commensurate with the patient's condition, the medical evidence and the patient's readiness to take on behavioral interventions.
- Recommend appropriate use (with informed consent) and monitoring of nutraceutical and herbal supplements as commensurate with the patient's condition, the medical evidence and the patient's readiness to take on such interventions.
- Make appropriate referrals out of the agency to community partners for interventions not delivered by the wellness clinic such as TMS and ECT or other medical care as needed.
Competencies:
- Knowledge - Familiarity and facility working with children/adolescents using psychiatric tools which are standards of care. Willingness to expand on or develop knowledge of other healthy, evidence-based interventions in management of mental health conditions, stress reduction, and patient wellness.
- Warm & friendly – Candidate exhibits warm, relational behavior and demeanor and cares about forming close relationships with patients and colleagues.
