Family Support Supervisor

Family Support Supervisor – Health and Human Services New Hanover County is looking for a Family Support Supervisor to join the Health and Human Services department. The Family Support Supervisor oversees a unit that assists clients in crisis and in need of financial assistance, guiding them toward self‑sufficiency. The role requires flexibility, strategic thinking, and experience in case management. Essential Duties Supervises staff, prioritizes and assigns work; conducts performance evaluations; ensures staff is trained; and makes hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Works with Family Support Specialists and assesses individuals dealing with crisis situations. Meets with community officials and plans, organizes, and evaluates work policies and procedures. Stays abreast of new funding sources and allocates funds and employees to best assist those in need. Addresses questions from staff regarding the interpretation of policies for various aid programs. Ensures that staff are aware of the needs of the customer and provide excellent customer service at all times. Ensures an adequate level of customer service is provided by the unit. Maintains regular and predictable attendance, consistently meeting the scheduling needs as required by the county. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Hours 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday. Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations. Compensation Hiring range: $56,351 – $76,074. Salary will be determined based on qualifications. Bilingual candidates are eligible for a 5% differential when utilizing this skill during the course of work duties.
