Principal Data Engineer / Architect

Salary: $112,700 - 193,200 per year Requirements:

• We require an engineering degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
• We need at least 10 years of data engineering experience.
• We require 5+ years of hands-on experience with Spark.
• We need 3+ years working with cloud-native data engineering technologies.
• We require experience using AI/ML.
• We need strong working knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD tools and practices, including Jenkins, Terraform on Azure, and Docker.
• We require proof-of-concept experience for AI/ML initiatives.
• We need direct experience building data engineering pipelines on Spark and Databricks in Azure.
• We require hands-on experience with streaming data ingestion and processing using Spark.
• We need experience with Azure-native data technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and Snowflake.
• We require exposure to ETL solution delivery for Azure-native platforms and Spark.
• We need a solid understanding of enterprise data lake and data warehouse concepts, including Delta Lake.

• We will provide technical leadership for all public cloud data engineering efforts on the Optum Rx Data Estate scrum team.
• We will design and build scalable, cost-effective Azure-native cloud solutions aligned to business needs.
• We will work hands-on across multiple data engineering technologies, including Spark, Kafka, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks.
• We will apply standard DevOps practices and CI/CD processes to support delivery.
• We will own team deliverables and partner closely with product owners and delivery leads.
• We will collaborate with business partners to support requirement gathering, scoping, estimation, and execution planning for capability delivery.
• We will contribute effectively in an agile environment working across Scrum and Kanban teams.
