Job Title: RN Critical Care Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2-3 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Read and interpret cardiac strips Experience with ventilators, chest tubes, and tracheostomies Lines management experience Proning experience Bedside and nursing station telemonitoring experience Description: This position is for a lower acuity ICU setting. The patient types include general ICU, stroke patients, COVID, medical, surgical, behavioral health, overdoses, post-cardiac arrest, and ventilator management. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2-3, based on acuity, for both days and nights. There is support in the unit from a CNA, with a ratio of 1:7. A charge nurse will take patient assignments. Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral blood draws. An IV/VAT team is available during dayshift on specific weekdays. A resource nurse is present during the day. There is a hospitalist and ICU educator available 24/7. Occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy are available on weekdays, with variability on weekends. An intensivist is present from 0600 to 1800, with eICU coverage from 1800 to 0600. The charting system used is EPIC along with Alaris and Pyxis equipment. The candidate must be comfortable floating to the cardiac unit as needed. A weekend rotation is expected every other week. Time off requests can be approved for up to 7 days based on unit needs. On-call requirements will vary depending on the needs of the unit. Holiday expectations will also vary based on unit demands. The dress code requires professional attire, with no specific color restrictions.
