You will directly manage staff and contractors, drive capital infrastructure projects, and serve as a key cross-functional partner to senior leadership all within a defense industry environment where precision, compliance, and mission readiness matter.From day one, we will count on you to lead a team that helps GDMS lead the world.What You'll DoOperational LeadershipProvide departmental guidance by prioritizing facilities initiatives in alignment with the leadership team's strategic directionReview, develop, and initiate department policies and standard operating proceduresSelect, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient and effective facilities operationsDevelop, prepare, and manage department budgets, forecasts, and risk management analysesTeam & Contractor ManagementDirectly manage and conduct performance evaluations for facilities staff; currently overseeing 2 direct reports with active efforts underway to identify and justify additional headcount to match operational needsOversee the performance and accountability of third-party contractors supporting all assigned sitesLead and mentor a team committed to operational excellence in a defense-focused environmentCapital Projects & InfrastructureOwn and manage capital projects focused on infrastructure equipment replacement and lifecycle planningPartner with Project Managers on capital improvement projects involving space planning and constructionDevelop and present risk management analyses to leadership and executive stakeholdersBuilding Systems OversightMaintain expert-level oversight of core building systems including: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression; Building Management Systems (BMS); Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS) specifically FM InteractCompliance & RegulatoryEnsure adherence to ADA accessibility requirements, local building codes, and permit processesMaintain compliance with fire and life safety codes across all sitesCollaborate with the Security team on applicable Defense Industry standards (note: direct responsibility for defense compliance standards resides with the Security organization)Emergency Preparedness & Business ContinuityLead Business Continuity Planning (BCP) efforts for facilities operationsDevelop and execute emergency response plans across all sitesApply crisis management experience and incident command familiarity to ensure site safety and resilienceWhat You'll ExperienceTechnologies that aren't just top-notch they're often classifiedA team of bold thinkers committed to exploring what's nextOpportunities to gain new knowledge as it's discoveredWhat You Bring to the TableBachelor's degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectationsStrong technical knowledge of facilities operations, building systems, equipment functions, and requirements, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, BMS, and IWMS platformsDemonstrated experience managing both direct staff and contracted service providersProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and energy management systemsSolid understanding of ADA requirements, local building codes, fire and life safety regulationsExperience with Business Continuity Planning, emergency response plan development, and crisis managementAbility to travel 10-20% across assigned sitesWhat Sets You ApartAbility to manage competing priorities under pressure with a calm, solutions-oriented approachStrong vendor negotiation skills and a track record of effective contractor managementExcellent cross-functional communication skills with demonstrated experience presenting to executive stakeholders and senior leadershipCreative thinking with the ability to multi-task across a diverse, geographically dispersed portfolioCommitment to ongoing professional developmentTeam player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team successIdentifies opportunities to apply AI and emerging technologies for continuous improvement and innovationSalary Note This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
