Overview Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, is a leading integrated behavioral health system that offers a full continuum of evidence‑based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC employs 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. With a budget of $260 million and 15 sites throughout New Jersey, its services include inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach, case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Responsibilities Provides culturally competent outpatient mental health services to an adult population. Participates in assessment of clinical needs and delivers skill acquisition and symptom management through evidence‑based individual, group, and family therapy for mental health and co‑occurring chemical abuse/dependency. Assesses treatment needs and provides evidence‑supported individual, group, and family treatment consistent with the program’s service design and philosophy. Coordinates with CCBH case managers, links and referrals for clients, and liaises with medical providers and community agencies. Maintains clinical documentation standards mandated by UBHC policy and applicable accreditation and certification entities. Develops and applies knowledge of trends and advancements in the field of practice. Champions evidence‑based and preferred practices by developing own skills, mentoring others, and providing case consultation, as observed by supervisor. Contributes to an environment that enhances clients’ positive self‑image and preserves their human dignity, as observed by supervisor. Qualifications Minimum of a Master’s Degree in a mental health or related discipline plus two (2) years post‑Master’s experience in the mental health field. Or Doctorate and a New Jersey license as required by discipline. Applicants with a degree in Social Work must hold an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work. Demonstrated competency in treating adults and families. Ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment. Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions. LCADC preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment Extended sitting to provide treatment and type extensive clinical documentation into the electronic medical record. May work at least one (1) evening per week. Work in quiet, private clinical offices in generally pleasant conditions.
