Civil Litigation AttorneyPosition OverviewWe are seeking a diligent Civil Litigation Attorney to manage a diverse caseload of civil matters from intake through resolution. The ideal candidate will handle all phases of litigation including pre-trial discovery, motion practice, depositions, settlement negotiations, arbitration, mediation (including first-chair mediation), and trial while providing clear, strategic counsel to clients and advancing the firms reputation for thorough, results-driven advocacy.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a full caseload of civil litigation matters from case intake through resolution, including insurance claims and commercial disputesConduct and oversee pre-trial discovery including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissionPrepare and take depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts; defend depositions when necessaryDraft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court documents; develop persuasive pre-trial motions and oppositionsDevelop case strategy and coordinate with clients, experts, and witnesses to prepare for hearings, mediations, arbitrations and trialServe as trial and hearing counsel, presenting evidence, examining witnesses, and making oral arguments in courtLead or participate in arbitration proceedings and mediations; conduct first-chair mediations where appropriate to negotiate favorable settlementsManage relationships with clients, provide regular case updates, and advise on risk and settlement strategyWork closely with paralegals and support staff to organize case files, maintain litigation calendars, and meet court deadlinesPerform legal research and keep abreast of case law and procedural developments relevant to civil litigationTrack time, prepare client billing, and assist with business development and client intake as neededQualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standingMinimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience; candidates with substantial insurance-claims, commercial litigation, or personal injury defense experience preferredDemonstrated experience with depositions, pre-trial discovery, and motion practice; prior trial experience requiredExperience in arbitration and mediation; first-chair mediation experience strongly preferredProven courtroom experience and comfort appearing in state and federal courtsStrong legal research, drafting, and advocacy skills with a track record of persuasive brief-writingExcellent client communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage client expectations and foster long-term relationshipsAbility to manage competing priorities, meet strict deadlines, and handle a high-volume caseload with attention to detailFamiliarity with litigation management software, e-discovery tools, and standard office technologyProfessional integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and staffBenefitsComprehensive medicalHybrid work schedulePTOGym membership
