Senior Inland Marine Technical Claims SpecialistWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Inland Marine Technical Claims Specialist to join our team in one of our Argo offices: Albany, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Omaha, League City, or Richmond (VA). This is a fully in-office role, with employees working on-site five days per week to foster collaboration, strengthen team relationships, and support business performance. In this role, you will handle the company's most complex inland marine claims, including Builder's Risk, Contractor's Equipment, and Motor Truck Cargo, ensuring accurate, timely, and cost-effective resolution.Essential Responsibilities:Working with limited oversight and broad authority, you will:Adjudicate highly complex inland marine claims involving significant exposure and technical difficulty, often with major impact on departmental outcomesConduct in-depth investigation, analysis, and information gathering to resolve complex and undefined claim issuesAnalyze policy language, endorsements, claim forms, client instructions, and supporting documentation to determine coverage applicabilityManage claims in litigation, ensuring appropriate strategy and resolution approachSet, evaluate, and adjust reserves with consideration of policy wording and claim developmentsCoordinate internal and external resources, including experts, TPAs, and vendors, to support claim resolutionMonitor and evaluate TPA performance for US-based programsQualifications & ExperienceMinimum of 7 years of experience handling commercial inland marine claims, particularly motor truck cargo, with exposures of $100,000+Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent combination of education and experience, including insurance designations or additional relevant experience)Active New York General Adjuster License, or reciprocal Florida, Texas, or California license required, or obtainable within 3 months of hireExperience working with specialty programs, TPAs, MGAs, or third-party vendors preferredStrong understanding of insurance operations, including claims impact on profitability and business performanceProven ability to manage complex, ambiguous claims requiring independent judgment and discretionSkills & CompetenciesStrong analytical, investigative, and decision-making skillsExcellent negotiation and claims resolution abilitiesDeep understanding of reserving practices and financial claim managementStrong time management and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlinesClear, professional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersClient-focused mindset with ability to develop value-added solutionsInnovative and solution-oriented thinking, with intellectual curiosityAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office and related business systemsCommitment to professional development and continuous learningStrong ethical judgment and commitment to doing the right thingCompensationThe base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
