Mechanical/Electrical Manufacturing Engineer – Kennedy Space Center, FL Job Overview: The applicant will plan and author procedures for the Orion Spacecraft Elements Team and provide floor support for Electrical & Mechanical Integration environments. Duties include creating manufacturing work instructions, determining build sequence, solving production problems, investigating design and manufacturing factors, maintaining assembly documentation, troubleshooting anomalies, performing producibility reviews, and interfacing with program personnel to report project status. Second shift and weekend work is required. Responsibilities Plan and author procedures for the Orion Spacecraft Elements Team. Create and develop manufacturing work instructions. Determine the sequence of build, select or design required tools, and solve production problems during the build of mechanical/electrical parts and assemblies. Investigate design/manufacturing factors such as equipment or part availability, manufacturability, ease of assembly, and large assembly management. Develop and maintain all assembly documentation. Troubleshoot and correct anomalies and discrepant hardware.Perform producibility reviews on engineering designs and drawings to assess manufacturability, ease of assembly, and material availability. Interface routinely with program personnel and report project status to leadership. Work second shift and weekends as required for this role. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (preferred). Knowledge of production manufacturing and assembly processes. Experience reviewing engineering drawings and acting as a floor liaison. Experience with configuration management practices and databases such as Windchill, EPDM, or similar. Willingness and ability to work alternative shifts including second and split shifts. Experience with SAP (VE CAMS) or similar software for generating manufacturing work instructions and engineering/manufacturing bill of materials. Ability to read, analyze and interpret various technical procedures and reports; strong written technical communication skills. U.S. citizenship required. Desired Skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space Systems tools such as STARS, Automation Framework, EPDM, or industry equivalents. Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Creo Parametric, CreoView, EdgeCAM, Delmia. Experience with structural installations. Experience with electrical, structural, avionics, and mechanism installations. Experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). CNC knowledge. Experience in a test and requirements verification environment. Experience with Space Vehicle Test Operations including test development, execution, data analysis, anomaly resolution, and satellite software test systems. Certified Test Conductor (CTC) with experience in SV Integration and Test. Ability to maintain process discipline in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment. Demonstrated ability to grow and seek new challenges. Demonstrated basic understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors. Experience in assembly or test operations. Strong technical writing and communication skills for system‑level test plans, procedures, and information sheets.
