Community Engagement Coordinator (Good Karma Gardens) The GKG Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Good Karma Gardens program and its many projects. This role is responsible for managing administrative tasks, coordinating volunteers, overseeing project logistics, all while independently meeting with potential project recipients and partners, helping to grow and sustain our mission. This position reports directly to the CEO. Primary Work Location: Los Angeles Project Discovery Proactively searches for new projects by contacting community members, schools, local government, and other partner organizations. Volunteer Coordination Organize and communicate with volunteers before, during, and after events, directly and at large via social media and group messaging tools. Administrative Support Maintain records, schedules, correspondence, and ensuring applicable forms, waivers, etc are obtained for volunteers and partnering project sites. Fundraising & Development Support grant applications, donor engagement, and financial partnerships. Community Engagement & Outreach Liaise with recipients, partners, and stakeholders. Represent GKG at outreach events and community fairs. Database Management Track/Manage volunteers, budgets, and schedules; collect metric data. Social Media Post on social media apps (e.g. Instagram, Partiful). Qualifications & Requirements Strong organizational and communication skills to diverse audiences, including community members, city officials, stakeholders, schools, and volunteers. Including but not limited to writing professional emails, reports, promotional materials, facilitating meetings, and public speaking. Strong time management skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively. Including but not limited to handling overlapping projects without compromising quality, meeting deadlines in dynamic environments, adapt quickly to changing priorities and troubleshoot issues in real-time. Experience in managing a school garden, community garden, or urban farm Including but not limited to planning, planting, and maintaining productive gardens in different microclimates; skilled in soil health management, composting, irrigation systems, and pest control; implementing crop rotation, companion planting, and permaculture style growing practices; knowledge of sustainable practices for water conservation and pollinator habitat creation. Passion for sustainability, permaculture, and community service. Including but not limited to ecological principles and regenerative practices; commitment to fostering community engagement and education connecting people with growing their own food, sustainable gardening and environmental stewardship. Proficient in basic office software (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, shared drives) and social media. Experience in nonprofit administration, project coordination, or a related field. Ability to work weekends for scheduled garden parties. Ability to successfully collaborate and communicate with Operations and Technical teams. Experience volunteering at our garden events and/or outreach programs (preferred). Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required. Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks including but not limited to, lifting 40 lbs, bending, standing for long periods, and working outdoors/in the field as needed for fieldwork/training. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be eligible to work in the United States. This role does not provide Visa Sponsorship.
