BC forward is currently seeking a highly motivated Research & Development – Machine Operator for an opportunity in Onsite (Local to Golden Valley Minnesota)

Position Title: Research & Development – Machine Operator

Location: Golden Valley Minnesota

Expected Duration: 6 months contract (with possible extension)

Job Type: Contract, 40 HRS WEEKLY

Anticipated Start Date: Mid of Nov 2026

Compensation and Schedule

·         Hourly Pay: $20 – 21/hr on W2 per hour.

·         Standard schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

·         Flex position with potential changes to days, start times, or end times based on business needs.

·         Advance notification may require shift or hour changes.

·         Up to 4 hours of overtime before or after shift. Occasional weekend support of 8–16 hours.

Job Description:

We are seeking an ITQ Technologist - Cereal, 3rd Shift - to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in pilot plant or plant processing, sanitation leadership, and equipment operation and a proven ability to set up, sanitize, and run trials safely while delivering reliable results for R&D platforms.

Responsibilities:

·         Autonomously set up, sanitize, and run equipment for trials with a focus on the cereal platform while supporting other platforms as needed.

·         Operate equipment safely and perform risk assessments aligned with food safety requirements.

·         Lead human and food safety efforts to identify and resolve risks, including coaching teams through safety projects.

·         Maintain and demonstrate mastery on multiple unit operations and systems, train others, and drive incremental value to customers.

·         Lead sanitation activities and conduct post-sanitation inspections, including complex system setups.

·         Support maintenance, electrical, and controls with a technical focus as needed during operations.

·         Consistently lift, manipulate, and transport ingredients or equipment up to 55 lbs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

·         High School Diploma or equivalent.

·         Experience working in teams to deliver results with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Basic computer and technology skills, including Office Suite and related programs.

·         Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical or mechanical issues.

·         Ability to coach, train, and develop others, translating technical expertise into business impact.

·         Comfort operating autonomously in a processing environment with strong understanding of food and human safety.

·         Adaptability in a dynamic environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.

Preferred Skills:

·         1+ years of experience in a similar field.

·         Food service or laboratory experience and familiarity with CPG operations and consumer trends.

Physical and Other Requirements:

·         Wear required PPE including safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, hair/beard net, and gloves.

·         Lift, manipulate, and transport up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting.

·         Work in hot, warm, or cool conditions and around industrial high-speed moving machinery.

·         Use powered lifts such as stackers and pallet jacks and safely climb ladders or stairs maintaining three points of contact.

·         Adhere to all safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure food safety, including work around potential allergens like milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame.

·         Ability to work around equipment that may have electromagnetic interference.
