Job Summary Health Care Technician II (S) Position Number: MH02; Grade: MH02; Location: Central Regional Hospital, Butner, North Carolina. Responsibilities Serve as a Forensic Therapeutic Support Specialist on the Forensic Services Unit (Maximum, Medium, or Minimum security). Provide direct patient care for individuals with complex mental health, substance use, developmental, and neuro‑medical needs. Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment while working with behaviorally difficult patients. Observe and record patient vital signs, assist with lab work and specimen collections, and participate in medical interventions within scope. Respond to clinical emergencies and assist with crisis prevention and intervention. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. Adhere to all facility policies, including reporting requirement for adverse weather events. Participate in pre‑employment drug testing, criminal background checks, and vaccination policy compliance. Qualifications High school diploma or GED and one year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient in written and verbal English. Knowledge of CNA principles and practices, including vital signs, lab work, specimen collection. Knowledge of patient interactions involving behavioral, physical, and medical interventions (within scope). Ability to work with behaviorally difficult patients while maintaining safety. Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR certification within 60 days of hire. Valid driver's license. Registered as a Nurse Aide I (or NA I certification) with the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. If not certified, training will be provided upon hire. Forensic or psychiatric nursing certification is preferred but not required. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $32,444.00 – $48,665.00 (Recruitment Range: $39,312.00 – $48,665.00). Shift premiums: Day 5% (plus weekend premium), Evening 20% + 5% weekend premium, Night 10% + 5% weekend premium, Holiday 50% premium on all shifts. Sign‑on bonus for CNAs (Nursing Department Only, between June1–August312026): Total $15,000 distributed in three installments ($4,000 first paycheck, $5,000 after 12 months, $6,000 after 18 months).
