Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, primarily days (0700-1930) with night flexibility (1900-0730) as operational needs arise. Every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed. Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between shifts more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period, with 36 hours off between scheduled night and day shifts.

Highlights:

• Work in a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital and recognized as one of the nation's leading teaching institutions and referral centers
• 28-bed Family Practice and Forensics unit with 18 general care beds and up to 10 correctional beds
• Adult medical/surgical patient population with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service, including geriatric population
• Daily census of approximately 20 patients; unit capacity of 25 rooms
• Epic charting system utilized facility-wide
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and more
• Specialized unit includes locked wing for Department of Corrections patients (0-10 at any given time) with DOC officer accompaniment for safety

Requirements:

• Active RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in medical/surgical specialty
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Demonstrated proficiency in starting and maintaining IVs
• Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start with strict passing criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall passing score, no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart blocks
• Floating to other units as needed
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Proficiency in central line management, PICC lines, wound care, PCAs, insulin/heparin administration, feeding tube management, and isolation precautions
• Previous experience with law enforcement patient care preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible
