Winery General Manager

Location: Temecula, CA

Position: Full Time | On Site

Base Salary: $100,000 + Quarterly Performance Incentive

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Winery General Manager to lead a premier winery and hospitality destination in Temecula Wine Country.

This is much more than a traditional tasting room management position. We are looking for a sales-driven hospitality leader who can take ownership of the overall guest experience while driving revenue, profitability, wine club growth, repeat visitation, and team performance.

The property combines premium wine experiences with food and beverage, events, retail, and additional hospitality amenities, creating multiple opportunities to engage guests and grow revenue.

Exceptional hospitality is the foundation of the experience. Profitable revenue growth is a key measure of success.

What You Will Own

Property Leadership & P&L

Take ownership of the overall performance of the property, including:

• Revenue and profitability

• Budget management and forecasting

• Labor and operating expenses

• Sales performance and business trends

• Pricing and revenue opportunities

• Key operating and financial metrics

You will be expected to understand the numbers behind the business and take action to improve performance.

Sales & Guest Development

Develop strategies to increase visitation and maximize the value of each guest experience.

This includes:

• Wine and tasting experience sales

• Food and beverage revenue

• Retail sales

• Private events and programming

• Local partnerships and tourism relationships

• Repeat visitation and guest loyalty

Build relationships with hotels, concierges, tourism organizations, local businesses, and other partners capable of introducing new guests to the property.

Wine Club Growth & Retention

Create a hospitality and sales culture where wine club membership becomes a natural extension of the guest experience.

Partner with the wine club team to:

• Increase membership conversion

• Improve member engagement

• Strengthen retention

• Develop member experiences

• Encourage repeat visits and referrals

Tasting Room Operations

Provide leadership for the tasting room and guest-facing operations through supervisors and the management team.

Establish clear expectations around:

• Hospitality

• Wine knowledge

• Sales

• Presentation

• Productivity

• Service standards

• Team accountability

This is a visible leadership role. The General Manager should be comfortable spending significant time engaging with both guests and employees.

Food & Beverage

Oversee the operational and financial performance of food and beverage offerings while ensuring they complement the overall wine and hospitality experience.

Maintain strong standards for:

• Guest experience

• Product quality

• Service execution

• Labor management

• Cost controls

• Revenue and profitability

Events & Programming

Develop experiences that give guests and wine club members compelling reasons to return throughout the year.

Programming may include:

• Wine tastings and special experiences

• Wine club events

• Live entertainment

• Seasonal programming

• Private events

• Community and hospitality partnerships

• Special food and wine experiences

Continue developing private events and programming as meaningful revenue channels.

People & Leadership

Build, coach, and lead a high-performing hospitality and sales organization.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing supervisors and emerging leaders

• Establishing clear performance expectations

• Recruiting and retaining strong team members

• Coaching and performance management

• Building a culture of accountability

• Creating alignment between hospitality standards and business results

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an accomplished hospitality operator who is equally comfortable leading people, engaging guests, driving sales, and managing financial performance.

Ideal candidates will bring:

• Approximately 10 years of progressive hospitality, winery, restaurant, hotel, luxury retail, resort, or related experience

• 5+ years of leadership and financial management responsibility

• Demonstrated success driving sales and achieving revenue goals

• Strong P&L, budgeting, labor, operating expense, pricing, and profitability experience

• Experience developing supervisors and building high-performing teams

• Strong understanding of premium hospitality and guest experience

• Wine knowledge and the ability to establish appropriate wine education and service standards

• Experience with winery, resort, multi-outlet hospitality, or experiential concepts is highly desirable

• Experience using POS, reservation, membership, CRM, or reporting systems to make informed business decisions

Wine certification such as WSET, Certified Sommelier, or similar credentials is valued but not required.

Schedule

This is an on-property leadership position requiring a strong presence during primary operating periods.

Candidates should be comfortable working a hospitality-driven schedule that may include weekends, evenings, holidays, private events, wine club events, and seasonal programming.

Compensation

Base Salary: $100,000 annually

In addition to base salary, the position is eligible for a quarterly performance incentive tied to profitable growth, providing meaningful additional earning potential for strong performance.
