Courier job at Ricoh Americas Corporation. San Diego, CA. Ensures customers' satisfaction by making pick-ups and deliveries in a proficient and timely manner. Job Duties and Responsibilities Delivers messages, telegrams, documents, packages, and other items to business establishments. Travels to delivery site on foot or by bicycle, automobile, public conveyance or customer vehicles. Keeps log of items received and delivered. Obtains receipts for articles delivered. Follows appropriate chain of custody protocols (e.g., TRAC). Serves vehicle driven, such as checking fluid levels and replenishing fuel. Performs pick-up and delivery of jobs accurately following a map and/or written instructions. Follows RICOH Service Excellence performance requirements. Maintains compliance with state and company standards by operating a vehicle safely, and following company guidelines in event of accident or injury. Responds to client requests, ensuring accuracy of order taken and delivery of completed orders in a timely manner. Paperwork in a timely, accurate and legible manner. Presents professional appearance to clients by dressing in professional attire per company standards. Communicates vehicle safety by maintaining routine maintenance on all delivery vehicles per company specifications. Meets company attendance standards by reporting to work punctually and working all scheduled hours and any required overtime. Performs other duties as assigned. Able to work independently, making sound decisions considering customer and business needs. Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications) High school diploma or equivalent is required. Valid state driver's license and driving record that meets company standards. Experience in electronic communication devices and team environment. Technical ability. Computers, email, basics, TRAC. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Good customer service and communications skills. Ability to read map, follow written instructions and complete paperwork accurately, good reading comprehension. Professional appearance and demeanor. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to effectively work individually or in a team environment. Competency in performing multiple functional tasks. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Critical thinking and decision-making skills. Working Conditions, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Couriers spend most of their time alone, making deliveries, and usually are not closely supervised. Those who deliver by bicycle are exposed to all weather conditions, as well as hazards associated with heavy traffic. Car, van and truck couriers must sometimes carry heavy loads, either manually or with the aid of a hand truck. They also deal with difficult parking situations, traffic jams, and road construction. When in the office, a typical environment includes adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. Work assignments are diversified. Interpret, comprehend and apply complex material, data and instructions. Prepare, provide and convey diversified information. Work requires walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs (e.g., papers, books, files, small parts, etc.). Moderate dexterity; regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination).
