Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Must have stepdown or progressive care experience. Must have telemetry experience. Must have experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerine, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutrex, insulin drip, heparin, bumex, or Lasix. Description: This unit features 40 beds. The staff consists of 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 4 Patient Care Technicians, and 1 Unit Secretary on days, and 1 Charge Nurse with 10 bedside nurses and 3 Patient Care Technicians at night. The patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:4, with stretch staffing at a 1:5 ratio. Patients include those with congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, diabetes ketoacidosis, post cardiac catheterization or stent, and post pacemaker or ICD placement. The unit uses equipment such as Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, bladder scanners, and utilizes an electronic medical record system. Ideal candidates should demonstrate a flexible demeanor, a positive attitude, a strong ability to work as part of a team, and compassion for patients. Preferred candidates will have experience with prostacyclins such as Flolan, Veletri, or Remodulin. Relief charge experience is also a plus. Typical procedures performed on this unit include bedside cardioversion. Weekends are required every other weekend. Floating may be required to all MedSurg units, stepdown units, COVID units, and ER holding areas. Dress code includes all white or all navy blue scrubs or a white top with navy blue pants.
