Civil Litigation Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Civil Litigation Attorney to join its growing civil defense litigation team in Woodbury, Long Island. This role offers the chance to work with experienced litigators on professional liability matters in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of civil defense litigation experience, with opportunities to handle a broad range of cases. Prior insurance defense and professional liability experience is preferred but not required. Duties Handle all phases of professional liability defense litigation from inception through resolution. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents. Conduct legal research, assist with litigation strategy, and case analysis. Manage discovery, prepare for, and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation. Communicate directly with clients, insurers, opposing counsel, and witnesses while providing regular case updates and strategic guidance. Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters. Provide proactive case management and client reporting. Requirements Admission to practice in New York required. 2-6 years of litigation and/or professional liability defense experience. Strong writing, research, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation environment. Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills. Education Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Certifications Admission to the New York State Bar. Skills Proficiency in legal research and drafting. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
