Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to observation patients requiring evaluation and treatment for periods between 8 and 48 hours
• Manage conditions including chest pain, asthma, abdominal pain, kidney stones, and minor infections
• Administer and monitor IV antibiotics, IV fluids, insulin drips, nitroglycerin for blood pressure, and TPN/lipids
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights, with occasional 1:7 night ratios based on staffing needs
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health record system
• Float within scope to other units across campuses as needed to meet facility staffing requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending Nebraska RN state license accepted; if not in hand at time of submission, start date will be booked six weeks out)
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Proficiency with drip management required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center (considered in lieu of standard first-timer restrictions)
