We also believe great teams support one another, celebrate successes, and bring positivity, perspective, and a sense of humor to the workplace.What You Can Expect at Midland College:A leadership team committed to action, collaboration, and continuous improvement.A Board of Trustees that values stewardship, innovation, and long-term vision.A community that believes deeply in the power of education to create opportunities.Meaningful work, supportive colleagues, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact, every single day.If you're passionate about making a difference, excited by growth and innovation, and ready to help students succeed while strengthening the Permian Basin, we invite you to join our team.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSMonitor daily bank activity and cash balances, administer positive pay, and prepare the daily cash balance report.Reconcile all cash and bank accounts; maintain accurate check registers and check logs.Prepare and post journal entries, budget adjustments, corrections, direct deposits, and other accounting transactions.Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts, including third-party receivables and ad valorem tax activity; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.Assist the Director of Accounting and Associate Vice President of Accounting Activities with cash-management activities.Maintain documentation for voided and reissued checks.Audit petty cash accounts and supporting documentation.Research account activity and assist departments with questions regarding balances, transactions, and corrections.Assist with unclaimed property reports and maintain detailed records of unclaimed checks.Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready supporting documentation.Contribute to process improvements, strong internal controls, and responsive service across the College.On a backup basis, prepare interdepartmental charges, the monthly sales tax report, enter Foundation donations and invoices, and support the 1099 reporting.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a similar degree, with at least 9 hours in accounting. Alternatively, 30 hours of college credit with at least 3 hours in accounting and a minimum of two years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or banking with complex reconciliation experience.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.Strong numerical accuracy and data-entry skills, including 10-key proficiency by touch.The ability to analyze financial activity, identify discrepancies, and follow issues through resolution.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.The ability to communicate clearly and provide responsive service to employees across the College.The ability to manage recurring deadlines and shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy.Preferred Qualifications:Experience performing complex bank, cash, receivable, or general ledger reconciliations.Accounts receivable experienceExperience preparing and posting journal entries.Experience with sales tax reporting.Experience with unclaimed property reporting.Experience with Forms W-9 and 1099.Experience in nonprofit, governmental, or higher education accounting.Experience working with an enterprise accounting or ERP system.WORK ENVIRONMENTTypical officeBusiness HoursM-Th 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. F 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.summer M-Th 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 pmPeriodic evening and weekend hours during peak periods (e.g., open enrollment, payroll)Occasional travel (less than 10%)Physical DemandsMust be able to lift or move up to 25 poundsMust be able to sit or stand for long periods of timeUse of manual dexterityRepetitive use of a keyboard at a workstationTravel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town may be requiredSalary Range: $61,774 - $62,700BENEFITS:Midland College faculty and staff enjoy a comprehensive choice of insurance plans* and retirement savings programs.medical, prescription, dental, and vision plans, FSAretirement savings programstuition remission for employeesgenerous paid time off including winter breakTo learn more go to: Midland College Benefits *eligibility may vary based on job classificationSECURITY SENSITIVITYAll Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
