Make a meaningful impact in a school-based setting by providing dedicated support as a paraprofessional working 1:1 with a student who has self-harm stemming behaviors and autism. This opportunity is available on a contract basis and is ideal for compassionate professionals who are committed to helping students thrive in a life skills classroom environment. The assignment will run through May 21, 2027, and you'll be working full-time within a supportive educational team near New Waverly, Texas.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience as a paraprofessional or teacher’s aide, ideally in a school or special needs setting
- Prior involvement supporting students with autism or behavioral challenges is strongly preferred
- Calm demeanor and ability to respond constructively to self-harming behaviors
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the full contract duration
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other school staff
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for a student with autism in a life skills classroom setting
- Implement behavior intervention strategies under the guidance of specialists
- Support the student’s participation in classroom and school activities
- Assist with daily routines, transitions, and personal care as needed
- Document student progress and communicate effectively with the educational team
- Foster a safe, encouraging, and respectful learning environment at all times
