Staff Accountant

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will support the Accounting and Finance team with day‑to‑day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance activities. This role is ideal for an accountant with a strong foundation in general ledger accounting who thrives in a mission‑driven environment and is comfortable working with government‑funded or regulated programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Support month‑end and year‑end close , including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger, balance sheet, and bank accounts
• Assist with budget tracking, grant compliance, and cost allocations
• Prepare financial schedules and supporting documentation for audits and funder reviews
• Process and review accounts payable and invoicing , ensuring accuracy and proper coding
• Collaborate with program and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Assist with ad‑hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience (nonprofit or government‑funded environment preferred)
• Strong understanding of GAAP , reconciliations, and journal entries
• MIP Fund Accounting experience is a strong plus
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines

• Experience working with grants, public funding, or regulated programs
• Exposure to audits and compliance reporting
