Overview The Pines at Davidson is hiring a sous chef to create innovative, delicious meals for a high-end dining experience. The Sous Chef supports the culinary operations by assisting with food preparation, production, quality assurance, team leadership, and kitchen organization. The Sous Chef provides direct leadership and supervision of Lead Cooks, Cooks, and Sanitation Team Members while ensuring excellence in food quality, team performance, resident satisfaction, food safety, labor management, and daily kitchen operations. Responsibilities Directly supervise Lead Cooks, Cooks, and Sanitation Team Members. Assist in planning, preparing, and executing daily menus, special events, and catered functions. Oversee a team of cooks who execute food production according to established recipes, portion standards, presentation guidelines, and resident preferences; participate in food preparation as needed. Provide daily leadership, direction, coaching, and support to assigned team members. Prepare and oversee food production according to established recipes, portion standards, presentation guidelines, and resident preferences. Monitor food quality, consistency, and appearance. Support menu development and recipe implementation. Ensure proper food handling, storage, and preparation procedures are followed. Qualifications Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Lead Cook, or comparable culinary leadership position. Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, club, hotel, and restaurant dining environments preferred. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. Strong communication, leadership, team member development, and organizational skills. ServSafe Certification preferred or ability to obtain. Proficiency in dining services and HR technologies. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Repetitive use of hands includes fine manipulation using knives, measuring implements, and key boards. Work performed in an indoor setting with occasional walking outdoors.
