Intern/Co-op - Accounting (Fall 2027) | Marathon Petroleum Corporation The Tone: This is a full-time accounting internship at Marathon Petroleum Corporation, available in multiple locations for Fall 2027. Marathon Petroleum is an energy industry leader committed to fostering a collaborative environment, developing its people, and welcoming diverse perspectives. This role is crucial for supporting the Controller's Organization by contributing to core accounting functions and gaining hands-on experience in the petroleum industry. The TL;DR Role: Intern Type: Full-time Location: In-person, Multiple locations (Findlay, OH; San Antonio, TX; Denver, CO; various refinery locations) Pay: $20.19-$25.24 hourly Team: Part of the Controller's Organization, supporting various accounting areas. Mission: Support the financial operations and integrity of Marathon Petroleum by performing core accounting duties and gaining industry-specific experience. What You’ll Actually Do Document Processing: Analyze and process business documents accurately. Data Analysis: Analyze accounting and financial data to prepare appropriate financial statement journal entries. Financial Operations: Prepare general ledger account reconcilements, contribute to tax information preparation, and assist in budget preparation. Control Testing: Test SOX and Non-SOX controls within auditing processes. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Interface with various departments outside the Controller's Organization to develop collaborative relationships. The Must-Haves Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting, for the duration of the experience. Experience: Demonstrated strong academic performance; authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, prepare reconciliations, understand accounting principles, and work 40 hours per week. Bonus: Prior military experience is a plus; consideration for other business majors may be given; ability to provide reliable transportation to the workplace. #J-18808-Ljbffr Marathon Petroleum
