PT Occupational Therapist - (185 Days) Revised

Description

• Utilize assessments and evaluation procedures for therapeutic intervention for disabled students to determine student eligibility for Occupational Therapy services; complete assessment report within mandated time frame

• Communicate results of evaluation and specific recommendations of Occupational Therapy services to the parent, educational staff, students when appropriate, other professionals, and agencies concerned with the student with mandated consent

• Plan and develop therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant to be integrated in the students educational programs; establish a system of documentation that is professional, efficient, accountable, and that conforms to state and district policy; attend staffing and other school meetings when appropriate

• Document and maintain student progress reports in accordance with district and program guidelines; participate in training educational school staff in use of assistive technology such as adaptive equipment and maintain appropriate documentation; participate in developing collaborative programs to meet student needs including conferences; parent meetings; Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings, and teacher training

• Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for dismissal of occupational therapy service

• Communicates the needs of occupational therapy program to the appropriate supervising school administrator; maintain and be accountable for the therapy equipment

• Facilitate in-service education and professional development for related/Occupational Therapy staff; participate in continuing education and professional growth objective

• Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners, State Board of Education rule and board policy; comply with all district and campus routines and regulations; maintain confidentiality

• Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution

• Valid Texas License as an Occupational Therapist granted by the Executive Council of Occupational Therapy Examiners.

• Successful completion of formal school based pediatric affiliation or alternate pediatric experience

• Evidence of participation in continuing education within the scope of pediatric school-based practice

• Knowledge regarding federal and state regulations related to the provision of occupational therapy services in the school setting

• Demonstrated competencies in pediatric occupational therapy service delivery in education setting

• Demonstrated strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skill

• Demonstrated ability to implement Occupational Therapy treatment programs as specified by Occupational Therapy plan of care/IEP
