What You'll Do

• Provide direct nursing care to patients on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Monitor patient vital signs and interpret EKGs (pass EKG competency exam required)
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Support post-op recovery, including total joints, gastrointestinal surgeries, and more
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including RT, OT, PT, and hospitalist staff
• Document patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse EMR system
• Float between various Med/Surg units as needed, providing consistent, high-quality care

What You Need
Required:

• Valid RN license in Louisiana or applicable state
• 2+ years hospital experience in acute care settings
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to pass EKG competency exam
• Strong wound management and pain control skills

Preferred:

• Experience with IV/PICC/CVL care and wound vacs
• Ability to adapt quickly to unit changes and float as needed

About the Assignment
This is a dynamic position at a modern, 18-bed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit within a leading facility in Shreveport, LA. The unit manages diverse patient cases including sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and post-op care. This role offers a supportive environment with a dedicated charge nurse, in-house RT and hospitalist teams, and access to advanced equipment such as Alaris pumps, Pyxis medication systems, and electronic health records. You will work a 4-day week every other week with weekend rotations and no on-call responsibilities, making this an excellent opportunity for work-life balance.
