Engineering a world of possibilities Mines Office of Research Administration seeks an IP and Contract Administrator to join the team! The Intellectual Property & Contract Administrator understands and applies Mines policies and procedures and applies federal, state, and sponsor rules and regulations in drafting and negotiating. The position requires critical thinking skills to review and interpret guidelines and sponsor expectations, while negotiating NDAs, MTAs, intellectual property terms in SRAs, IIAs, IPMPs, and Technology Licensing Agreements, and associated amendments on behalf of Mines. As a backup to the Contract Administrator team and training provider, the successful candidate must bring outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, be self‑motivated, and capable of multi‑tasking. This position requires a minimum of two days per week on campus in Golden, Colorado. Primary Responsibilities Reviews, drafts, and manages (with minimum oversight) a broad range of intellectual property and research contracts (NDAs, MTAs, IIAs, IPMPs, Technology Licensing Agreements and amendments). Works with ORA to draft intellectual property language in sponsored research and grant award agreements. Assesses contractual language for intellectual property rights, confidentiality, liability, indemnification, risk, publishing rights, governing law, and compliance with university policies and state law. Prioritizes a diverse case load of differing sponsors and contractual matters to meet deadlines. Escalates non‑standard contract terms as needed per approved escalation procedures. Maintains communication with faculty, Mines stakeholders, sponsors, and external personnel to outline all information and negotiate agreements. Interprets and explains federal, state, and Mines regulations and policies to faculty and other personnel. Provides ongoing contact with sponsors and external personnel for negotiation and management of agreements. Assists faculty formally or informally to answer questions and support agreements. Ensures accurate and timely federal and sponsor compliance through management of agreement and IP information and data in appropriate database systems, including the federal iEdison database. Manages uploads of fully executed agreements, modifications, and other relevant documents into the system and prepares requested reports. Provides formal and informal training to faculty and departmental staff regarding school policy and procedures in relation to transactional agreements and contracts. Supports the Contract Administrator unit with intellectual property language and university initiatives. Participates in office‑wide process evaluation and reengineering, critically evaluating procedures to improve efficiency and resource utilization, recommending and leading approved improvement efforts. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, technical, or related field. 3‑5 years negotiating transactional contracts related to research administration and/or technology licensing. Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding university research and intellectual property management databases. Experience with iEdison system and reporting as required by the Bayh Dole Act. Demonstrated customer service skills, ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, and meet multiple deadlines. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including independent judgment. Proficiency using databases, presentation software, and enterprise financial systems. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the university environment and policies. Master’s degree in business, technical, or related field. Salary and Benefits $71,600 - $79,600 annually.
