Senior Accountant

Position Summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting functions for hotels under management. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with company policies and accounting standards, and supports property leadership with financial analysis and reporting. The Senior Accountant will oversee multiple hotel properties and assist property accounting leaders with month-end close, budgeting, audits, payroll coordination, and revenue reconciliation. Will perform and/or oversee tasks below for multiple properties Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for hotel operations Manage month-end and year-end closing processes Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity Review daily revenue reports, occupancy data, and cash reconciliations Monitor and reconcile hotel revenue streams including rooms, food & beverage, parking, and other ancillary revenues Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies Support external audits, tax filings, and ownership reporting requirements Work closely with hotel operations teams, general managers, and department heads Review payroll entries, labor allocations, and benefits accruals Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable oversight Prepare and file occupancy, sales, and other hospitality-related tax reports Maintain internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvement Train and mentor property-level accounting staff Handle ownership requests promptly Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or hotel accounting Strong understanding of hotel financial statements and operational reporting Experience with hotel systems such as Aptech Accounting, ProfitSword, Opera PMS, or Mews preferred Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines simultaneously Preferred Qualifications Hospitality industry experience strongly preferred Multi-property accounting experience Experience with hotel ownership reporting and management company structures Physical & Work Requirements Hybrid: / Work from home / hotel Ability to work extended hours during month-end close or audit periods Occasional travel to hotel properties may be required #J-18808-Ljbffr Somnium Hospitality Group
