This is an onsite position based at the Widow Jane Distillery in Red Hook, Brooklyn NY.

Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 2pm-11pm

What the Role Is

The Widow Jane Part-Time Barback will be responsible for maintaining tasting room cleanliness and appearance. The Barback will support Bartenders and Front of House staff and be responsible for providing efficient beverage service and maintaining the bar's cleanliness and overall appearance. Botanica at Widow Jane proudly serves as the distillery's Cocktail Bar and Whiskey Tasting Room.

How You Will Spend Your Time?

• Provide an exceptional guest experience and maintain a positive guest/customer relation at all times
• Prepare fresh garnishes, juices, syrups, and other cocktail components
• Assist with bussing tables and resetting the bar room
• Plate bar snack offerings
• Monitor usage and restock bar with spirits, beer, and wine as needed
• Maintain highest health standards, sanitation and cleanliness in the beverage/bar area to meet local, state and government guidelines.
• Ensure all service items such as menus, etc. are cleaned, in good condition and replaced as required
• Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors and driving while under the influence
• Maintain bar cleanliness by cleaning glasses, putting away items and organizing kitchen fridge daily, changing/taking out garbage, maintaining clean restroom

Who You Are…

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year work-related experience working in a bar/restaurant
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
• Service Orientation – actively looking for ways to help people
• Available to work weekends
• Ability to work in a team and be a self-starter
• Minimum age requirement: 21 years old

Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

• Familiarity and appreciation of Bourbon and Rye Whiskeys

Hours of Operation: Friday 4pm-10pm; Saturday-Sunday 2pm-10pm

Physical Requirements

• Stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms.
• Lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

In New York, the expected compensation range for this role is $21.00 per hour plus tips. Actual starting pay may differ based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
