Server -- Independent Living Department: DiningStatus: Part-TimeReports To: Hospitality ManagerPay Type: Non-Exempt / HourlyLocation: Independent Living Job Overview We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and service-oriented Server to join our Dining team in our Independent Living community. As a Server, you will play an important role in creating a warm, welcoming, and enjoyable dining experience for our residents and their guests. You will provide attentive table service, accurately take and serve meal orders, respond to dietary needs and preferences, maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, and work closely with the culinary and hospitality teams. The ideal candidate is compassionate, professional, dependable, and enjoys building positive relationships with older adults while treating each resident with dignity and respect. Schedule Part-time position Typical hours are 4:00 PM-8:00 PM Some weekend availability is required Schedule may vary based on dining needs, special events, holidays, and community activities. Additional hours or overtime may be available or required as needed. Key Responsibilities Set up and break down dining areas within established timeframes, with all setup completed at least 30 minutes before opening. Ensure all silverware, glassware, and dinnerware are clean, chip-free, polished, and properly maintained. Wear the required uniform and maintain a professional appearance throughout each shift. Maintain thorough knowledge of all menus, including wine lists, daily specials, ingredients, and preparation methods. Communicate with the culinary team regarding specials and menu changes. Understand food allergies, dietary needs, ingredients, and preparation methods to help ensure resident safety. Maintain a visible and attentive presence on the dining room floor. Greet residents and guests warmly and respond to their needs in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. Proactively identify and resolve service issues or communicate concerns to a manager. Follow assigned schedules and communicate requested schedule changes to management at least one week in advance whenever possible. Make reasonable efforts to arrange coverage for shifts that cannot be worked. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation and back-of-house area at all times. Properly scrape and organize dishes for the dish area, including placing glasses in appropriate racks and stacking similar plates together. Follow all prescribed sanitation practices, procedures, and community standards. Complete required checklists and maintain established service standards throughout each shift. Communicate effectively and professionally with residents, families, coworkers, vendors, visitors, and members of the general public. Demonstrate compassion and a genuine desire to work with older adults, recognizing that the community is the residents' home. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Perform duties in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner. Make resident safety, comfort, and satisfaction a priority. Welcome and assist visitors, including residents' family members and friends, prospective residents and their families, referral sources, vendors, and regulators. Answer telephone calls appropriately and according to company and community standards. Communicate professionally and cooperate with supervisors and all community personnel. Maintain professionalism and patience when working with individuals who may be ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, or occasionally difficult. Protect and respect resident rights and comply with applicable regulations and community policies. Perform other duties as assigned.
