Job DetailsJob Location: ComAV Technical Services - Victorville, CA 92394Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $38.00 - $45.00 HourlyTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DayJob Category: Skilled Labor - TradesJOB SUMMARY JOB SUMMARY The Avionics Technician III is a senior-level avionics technician responsible for performing complex troubleshooting, modifications, installations, system integrations, inspections, and technical evaluations of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. This position serves as a technical subject matter expert, provides mentorship to technicians, and supports operational excellence through regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform complex troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, installations, and testing of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. Lead avionics activities associated with major maintenance visits, modifications, and return-to-service projects. Diagnose and resolve complex system integration and aircraft electrical issues. Interpret engineering data, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and aircraft modification packages. Support engineering, inspection, and quality personnel with technical evaluations and troubleshooting expertise. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Avionics Technician I and II personnel. Assist with work planning, task sequencing, and workforce development. Support customer, FAA, and quality audits as required. Ensure maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, approved technical data, and Company procedures. Maintain required personal tools in accordance with Company Tool Control procedures. Follow Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Prevention procedures. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS Education & Certifications High School Diploma or GED required. Graduation from an Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS) preferred. Technical, vocational, military, or aviation maintenance training preferred. FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) preferred. Experience 5 or more years of avionics maintenance experience. Experience in a Part 145 Repair Station, Part 121, military, or equivalent aviation environment preferred. Heavy maintenance, modification, return-to-service, or commercial aviation experience preferred. Documented fleet specific formal training courses such as 40-hour General Familiarization courses or ATA 104 level 1, 2, 3, or 4 courses preferred. Documented fleet specific engine run and taxi training and qualifications preferred. Qualifications Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to obtain airport driving privileges. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts. Tools Requirement Avionics Technician III are required to provide and maintain a complete set of personal aircraft maintenance tools necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Personal tools must be maintained in good working condition and comply with Company Tool Control, Tool Accountability, and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Prevention requirements. Avionics Technician III are responsible for the security, maintenance, and replacement of their personal tools. Specializedtooling, calibrated equipment, test equipment, and Company- controlledtoolingrequired for specific maintenance tasks will be provided by the Company. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge Advanced knowledge of aircraft avionics, electrical systems, communications, navigation, flight guidance, and integrated aircraft systems. Advanced knowledge of FAA regulations, including Parts 43, 65, and 145. Knowledge of aircraft operating systems to include structures, General understanding of aircraft structures, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, landing gear, and engine/APU fundamentals. Knowledge of aircraft modification programs and system integration requirements. Knowledge of avionics wiring diagrams, schematics, and maintenance documentation. Knowledge of communication, navigation, flight guidance, radar, and instrument systems. Knowledge of FAA regulations applicable to aircraft maintenance operations. Skills Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Lead avionics modification and installation projects. Interpret complex engineering and technical documentation. Utilize advanced avionics test equipment and diagnostic systems Perform advanced troubleshooting and fault isolation. Utilize avionics test equipment and diagnostic systems. Install and modify avionics systems independently. Read and interpret technical data and engineering drawings. Read and interpret wiring diagrams and maintenance manuals. Complete maintenance documentation accurately. Abilities Resolve complex avionics and electrical system discrepancies. Provide technical leadership and mentoring. Evaluate maintenance activities for quality and compliance. Manage multiple priorities while maintaining safety and quality standards. Independently diagnose and resolve avionics discrepancies. Prioritize workload and manage multiple assignments. Mentor junior technicians and support training efforts. Work with minimal supervision. Follow detailed instructions and technical documentation accurately. Work safely in a fast-paced maintenance environment. Maintain attention to detail and quality standards. Work collaboratively with technicians, inspectors, and support personnel. OTHER SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications. Ability to learn maintenance tracking systems such as Corridor. Utilize and understand Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPC) and Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) as reference guides Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Sufficient visual acuity, depth perception, color recognition, and hearing (with or without correction) to safely perform aircraft maintenance tasks. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in aircraft hangars, maintenance facilities, airport ramps, and outdoor operational environments. Employees are routinely exposed to aircraft noise, moving machinery, elevated work platforms, and varying weather conditions. The position may require exposure to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids, solvents, cleaning agents, and other materials commonly associated with aircraft maintenance. Employees are expected to comply with all Company safety policies, FAA regulations, OSHA standards, and PPE requirements.
